Instructor Training
Great classes need great teachers. We develop ours from within: students who have grown up through our levels, trained in how we teach, and earned a place in front of the room.
Please note: we currently do not offer any publicly-available instructor training programme. Our training is delivered in-house to Dance Culture students and team members. If you would like to be considered, email us.
Meet Angela
Angela Fayth is our Professional Development Coordinator and delivers most of our instructor training material.
Angela's job is to make sure that every person teaching a Dance Culture class teaches to the same high standard: the same syllabus, the same care for students, and the same welcoming culture, at every level and at both studios.

How adults learn to dance: breaking figures down, clear cueing, demonstrating for both roles, and pacing a class so everyone progresses.
Our syllabus, inside out
What is taught at each level and why, so that every class builds on the last and students are always ready for the level above.
Running the room
Partner rotations, timing, energy and music, and looking after mixed abilities so that no student is left behind or held back.
Musicality
Rhythm, phrasing and timing: dancing on time yourself and teaching students to hear the music, not just count it.
Safety & student care
Safe partnering, floorcraft, and creating the welcoming, respectful space that first-time students write to us about.
Professional conduct
Reliability, preparation and presentation: representing Dance Culture's culture and values every time you step into the studio.
Business needs
The business side of a dance school: how great classes drive enrolments, retention and word of mouth, and how instructors help keep the doors open.
The pathway
Every Dance Culture instructor started as a student. The journey typically looks like this:
- Dance with us. Train consistently, progress through the levels, and develop your own dancing first.
- Put your hand up. Email us to let us know you would like to be considered for in-house instructor training.
- Help out. Student volunteers support classes, help balance leader and follower numbers, and learn what happens behind the scenes.
- Train with Angela. Selected students work through our instructor training material with mentoring from experienced instructors.
- Step in front of the room. Assist experienced instructors, then begin teaching with ongoing support and development.
